Saikotei was founded as a traditional Japanese restaurant

Saikotei was founded about 140 years ago as a traditional Japanese restaurant by Kobe Saito, the first owner of the restaurant. It is said that Mr. Saito was a skilled person, and he served as a cook when Emperor Meiji came to Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Since its founding, the restaurant Saikotei has welcomed various celebrities such as the first Prime Minister Ito Hirobumi, political and business figures, and intellectuals for 120 years as "Yamaguchi's Guest House". After the restaurant closed after its long history, it was relocated and restored, and is now used as a place for citizens o exchange.

A large hall where people who have made their names in history gathered

Saikotei has a large hall that is typical of traditional Japanese restaurants. In the 100-tatami-mat size room, there are calligraphy writings of Prime Ministers from Yamaguchi Prefecture, such as Ito Hirobumi and Abe Shinzo, as well as of those who have made their names in history, such as Tanaka Kakuei. It's interesting that each calligraphy shows the individuality of the person.
You can rent this hall as a rental room, and you can use catering service to hold banquets such as year-end parties and alumni reunions. Some people also have a wedding in this hall.
